Instructions
Step 1: Open the fixture
Open up your fixture to reveal the wiring inside.
Note: Wiring instructions for your particular fixture may vary from what is shown in this guide. Be sure to follow any specific instructions for your fixture.
Step 2: Punch out access hole for power cord
Remove end cap and punch out ½" access hole for power cord.
Step 3: Attach power cord
Attach power cord strain relief and reattach end cap.
Step 4: Punch out side access hole
Punch out side access hole for toggle switch. Be sure to select hole that matches diameter of toggle switch you are using.
Tip: You may need to drill your own hole to match your switch.
Step 5: Attach the toggle switch
Step 6: Attach the wires to the switch terminals
Cut the white (hot) wire coming from the transformer so that it reaches one of the switch terminals with a few inches to spare. Use the wire you just cut and attach it to the switches other terminal.
Step 7: Secure the power cord and connect the wires
Feed the power cord through the strain relief and secure. Using the wire connectors attach the black wire from the power cord to the black wire from the transformer. Connect the white wire from the power cord to the white wire from the toggle switch. Finally connect the green wire from the power cord to the green screw on your fixture.
Step 8: Drill holes, feed bolts with washers
Drill holes in the 30" PVC pipe so that they match the holes in the top of your fixture. Be sure to measure the holes so that they center the fixture on the 30” PVC. Next feed the ¼" bolts with two washers as shown.
Step 9: Feed and secure the bolt
Feed the bolt through the top of the fixture and secure with a washer and nut.
Your fixture should now resemble the photo on the left.
Step 10: Assemble the legs
Assemble the legs using the 4" PVC, T’s, 12" PVC and elbows as shown.
Step 11: Attach legs and install bulbs
Attach legs to fixture assembly and install bulbs.
Your exposure light is fully assembled!
Your exposure light is now fully assembled and ready to use. Due to variations in bulbs be sure to test timing using small pieces of your film first for optimal exposure times. Use our timing tables as a starting reference.
Make a reflector from Mylar coated cardboard. Most art/craft stores or office supply stores carry Mylar coated cardboard.
The reflector will help intensify the light and reduce exposure times. Again be sure to test timing with small pieces.
